Welcome our New Nurse Practitioner

We are excited to welcome Jan Hiser as our new Nurse Practitioner. Jan received both her Bachelors in Nursing and Master’s degree in Nursing from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. She has 17 years of experience, in various settings, including clinics, hospitals, nursing homes, and she has also taught nursing students in the college setting. She has always had a strong interest in the care and treatment of patients with diabetes, and she is very excited to be a part of this practice.

She is trained to take health histories and provide complete physical examinations; diagnose and treat many common acute and chronic problems; interpret laboratory results and X-rays; prescribe and manage medications and other therapies; provide health teaching and supportive counseling with an emphasis on prevention of illness and health maintenance; and refer patients to other health professionals as needed.
